This week’s Monday Minute comes with humor…This meme is perfect!
We can underestimate the power of words and how we characterize our skills and abilities. Do you downplay your roles? I’m not suggesting you exaggerate; however, don’t sell yourself short.Evaluate how you explain your roles and responsibilities on your resume.
I was reminded of one of the tips I shared with a mentee years ago, “collect skills to get to the job or career you desire. Don’t focus on the role, but gain the skills to achieve your ultimate goal.”
Once you change your perspective, you can change your attitude toward your position. You can identify the actual development gaps and skills you want to obtain.
Once obtained, you convey those skills on your resume to better position you for future roles. Wording is critical and choosing the right ones can help land you the perfect job.
