Colin Kaepernick has a mini-series on Netflix called “Colin in Black & White”.
Ever since he was a kid, Kaepernick wanted to play in the NFL and more specifically, to be a quarterback. Throughout his childhood, Kaepernick excelled as a baseball and football player and before finishing his senior year of high school, he received several baseball scholarship offers and even one from a major league baseball team. It was definitely a pivotable moment for Kaepernick to accept a baseball scholarship before going into the football season, but he was persistent in stating his purpose of being a NFL quarterback.
He received pressure from his coach, friends and even his parents to take one of the baseball offers because he was not receiving any offers for football. Rather than give into the pressures of others, Kaepernick doubled down in his decision and decided to wait it out and it eventually paid off. It was not without patience and a lot of rejections. It was not without a lot of “I think you should just stick with baseball. You are great at it”.
