Can you believe it’s June?!
It’s the middle of the year and time to check the progress on your annual goals.
Whether your company has a formal process or not, it’s always good to calibrate the progress of your goals with your manager.
What are the benefits of setting up a midyear review with your manager?
- Assess if goals need to be changed or updated based on the current market and company conditions.
- Not only do you come across organized, but also motivated and proactive.
- Allow your manager to provide feedback and you get aligned on the next steps.
How to prepare for your midyear review?
- Set up a meeting with your manager and explain the reason for the session. Scheduling the meeting adds the right pressure and accountability for you to follow through.
- Ask yourself if you are progressing where you thought you would be at this time in the year?
- Write down your progress to the goals and your proposed plan for the remainder of the year.
Consider the same thoughts for your personal goals. Have a check-in with yourself on the goals you set for the year, whether that’s saving a certain amount of money or investing in a large purchase. Perhaps you want to read a certain number of books or reconnect with a certain number of people or join an organization.
