Moore Of You

The principle of “making your intentions known” goes for meetings and career aspirations.
FOR MEETINGS:
It’s hard to prepare or know how to govern yourself in a meeting when the intentions are unknown.
I have been invited to meetings where the invitation was not clear of the intent of the meeting. There wasn’t an agenda, purpose, or desired outcome.
I advise clients to ask, “what is the purpose of the meeting?” Or “is there anything you would like me to bring in preparation for the upcoming meeting?”
CAREER ASPIRATIONS:
As a leader, I appreciate it when team members let me know their career goals, even if those goals may lead them to leave my team. It helps me identify projects or development opportunities to prepare them for the future.
When employees don’t make their intentions known, it leaves leaders to make assumptions that could be incorrect.
Whether for career aspirations or meetings, remind yourself that we do not read minds; time is valuable, and therefore, make your intentions known.
