Many times we see someone’s post on social media and think to ourselves, “wow! Let me do that!”. We are not privy to the many days and the amount of work that was put in to get to that post.
As we start this new year, we have great ideas and goals that we have to stay focused on to accomplish. The hardest ones are those that require consistent effort to see results. It’s not going to happen overnight.
Losing weight is one of the biggest goals that takes consistency and patience.
I remind myself, “I didn’t gain this weight overnight, so I am not going to lose it overnight.” I give myself grace in the process with realistic milestones. I spread out the days I get on the scale and I identify accountability partners for my workouts and eating habits.
It takes consistently with food and exercise. Once I take my eyes off the purpose, the weight comes back on. I have to stay focused and committed.
The same can be said for our career goals. To change or master a skill, we have to be consistent and patient.
Let’s take the example of losing weight and apply it to 2022 goals (see the graphic)
  1. Determine the keys to achieving the goal
  2. Identify accountability partners
  3. Be patient and consistent
  4. Give yourself grace
Now ask yourself, “How am I going to stay committed to achieving my 2022 goals?”
