Moore Of You

As many of us have the day off in observance of Memorial Day, let’s not forget why we celebrate this day. It’s a time to reflect on the lost lives of the men and women who have served in the American Armed Forces.
It’s not just about the biggest sales or which barbecue to attend; but a time of showing honor and respect.
What can you do in addition to sleeping in today?
5 ideas to consider for Celebrating Memorial Day:
1. Pray for the loved ones of the fallen soldiers. I can’t imagine how difficult this could for families. A prayer of comfort, peace and healing can go a long way. Even if you don’t know them personally, you know they exist.
2. Make and send cards to your local VA hospital. You can make a “Thinking of You” or “Thank you for your service” card. If you are not crafty, you can purchase a card. I’m sure it will put a smile on a veteran’s face.
3. Donate to a local charity or organization that supports surviving families and veterans in need. Even if not monetary, you can post on your social media to add awareness to the organization and its cause.
4. Watch a movie or read a book to increase your knowledge on the sacrifices of soldiers. This will help with your understanding and can be a great discussion point with family and friends.
5. Celebrate the veterans you know with a meal, card or phone call. If you know a veteran, how cool would it be to get phone call or perhaps volunteer to run errands or help with their yard work.
I’m curious if you decide to do any of the 5 ideas I listed in REMEMBERING and HONORING our Brave Heroes.
I would love to hear about them in the comments.
